Sound of Dragon 《龍吟滄海》 – Lan Tung (2014)

- 1-3 soloists & chamber orchestra or intercultural orchestra or Chinese orchestra

Composed for Vancouver’s inaugural Sound of Dragon Music Festival in May 2014, Sound of Dragon starts with a phrase from a famous Chinese traditional piece “Crazy Snake Dance”. Traditionally Chinese people consider the snakes as small dragons. But Lan’s work quickly departs into a new world, with a touch of African rhythms and improvised solos. This piece was composed shortly after Lan’s return from a trip to Morocco.

《龍吟滄海》,為大型室內樂團所譜,以傳統「金蛇狂舞」曲調為出發點,受非洲音樂影響,由溫哥華跨文化管弦樂團於第一屆龍吟滄海音樂節首演。
