Phoenix Mountain《鳳凰山》(2025)－ Lan Tung
－ for suona, 2 erhu, zheng, cello, percussion
This piece brings together two well known melodies from Chinese classical/traditional music repertoire: Hunderd Birds Honouring the Phoenix, featuring the suona; Birds Singing in the Mountains, featuring the erhu. While preserving the main parts of both pieces, Lan developed various variations and complimenting lines to blend them together.
