Taste of Taiwan 《品味台灣》- Lan Tung (2017)

Taste of Taiwan celebrates the amazing variety of Taiwanese food, listing great dishes, snacks, and drinks from breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea, dinner, to the late hours at the night markets. Through a dazzling food tour, it brings the audience to a land of vibrant culture. The music draws materials from Taiwanese opera and folk songs; however, the use of polyrhythms and cross-cultural instrumentation reflects the composer’s multi-cultural living and working environment in Canada. This piece was commissioned by the Vancouver Inter-Cultural Orchestra with the support of a grant from the Canada Council for the Arts.
透過一場美食的饗宴，《品味台灣》從街頭的早餐舖、小巷裡的麵攤、大小餐廳的豐富菜餚、各色的冷熱飲品，到熱鬧的夜市攤販，充份表達出每位旅居海外的台灣人對家鄉的情懷與思念。同時，樂曲的跨文化配器以及多變的節奏，又是作曲家過去30年在溫哥華多元文化環境下工作與生活的積累。這首樂曲由溫哥華跨文化管弦樂團委託創作，並獲加拿大藝術評議會贊助。
